Hi! I’m Laila, the writer behind SocioMathematics, a high school student who spends a lot of time thinking about books in “quirky” and overcomplicated ways 🙂

I started this blog because I love two things: reading fiction and applied math. A lot of stories hide big ideas about society, politics, and human behavior beneath the plot that I enjoy discovering. On this blog, I explore these discoveries using one of my favorite subjects: math!

Think of it as a blend of literary analysis, social commentary, and mathematical modeling. For example, mapping character relationships as transversals, thinking about power structures like functions, or using probabilities to explain behavior of a morally grey character.

Why use math to analyze literature? Because math reveals structure. And many stories—especially ones with political or social allegories—have deeper structures that shape how they work.
